Title: Sealing the Deal

Episode: In My Time of Dying, missing scene

Rating: T for language

Genre: General/Humour

Summary: There was one aspect of the deal that John hadn’t counted on.

A/N: Okie dokie, here goes. This is my first entry on LJ and hopefully it's a good one. As my first entry, this fic is dedicated to savingfaith333 who convinced me to jump ship. Fic can be found below the cut.

The cheap lights of the basement flickered, casting the already shadow-filled room into a temporary pitch black.

Between boilers, concrete and endless pipes in the northern section of the room, the demon and John Winchester faced off. Not with weapons, demonic powers or exorcisms, but with their wills. Facing off in the process of answering the question: what would John Winchester give up to save his eldest son’s life? Or, perhaps more accurate, what wouldn’t he give up?

The answers: everything…and nothing.

“So,” the hunter's gruff voice broke the silence, “what is it you want more than this gun?” As he spoke he waved the Colt with his free hand. “What could you possibly want more other than the only known way you can die? I’m guessing it’s not a set of steak knives to sweeten the deal.”

The demon chuckled. “Oh no Johnny-boy, what I want is far more dangerous…and far more valuable.” The demon fixed its marbled yellow eyes on John. “You see, what I want from you in addition to that there gun is, quite simply, you if you catch my drift.”

John was still for a moment, then sighed and nodded his head. “Fine. Can’t say I didn’t expect something like this from something like you. We got a deal, but I’ve got a few conditions of my own. Or, actually, just the one.”

“I’m dying to hear it.” The demon paused, yellow eyes glinting in the dim lighting. “Well, not really, but I’m sure Dean is.” The demon grinned as is foe’s eyes darkened and his knuckles whitened at the reminder.

“My condition,” John started, trying to restrain the urge to shoot the murdering son of a bitch in front of him square between those accursed eyes. “My condition is that not only do I get to see Dean to make sure he’s alright, I get ten minutes from that time to speak with my boys. Those ten minutes are mine to use as I see fit and this all happens before you collect.” Deep brown eyes met sickening yellow. “So, we got a deal or what?”

The yellow-eyed-demon was silent, contemplative. John wanted to scream at it to hurry the fuck up, scream that his boy was dying, but bit his tongue waiting in agonizing silence as the demon considered his lone condition.

Finally, a grin spread across the host’s face and the demon clapped his borrowed hands in excitement. “We got a deal John. The contract’s written up; now all that’s left is the signatures.

John nodded again, pleased his terms had been accepted. “Alright then, so…how do we do this? Shake on it?” John asked, a hint of hope in his voice. The demon just grinned wider.

“…oh, you have got to be kidding me…”

END

There you have it. I had the thought a while back about how deals are normally sealed and, as a permanent resident of the slash gutter, this plot bunny attacked. That was about three or four months ago. It wouldn't leave me alone!!! So, I gave in and wrote this a couple nights ago. *hangs head in shame at pathetic attempt at humour*

Feedback is appreciated, but then so are readers in gerneral.
This story and others can be found at my FF.net accout of the same name, but I'll probably be posting some more here.

Shock horror, this fic is actually breaking my habit of killing a character. Seriously in the few other stories I've written Dean's died, Sam's died AND Dean, Sam and John have died.
